The basics of Kakejiku
Understanding more about Kakejiku (hanging scroll)
Service Description
The Japanese traditional art piece known as the "Kakejiku " or hanging scroll is typically seen behind glass in museums. However, like all works of art, Kakejiku reveals its true beauty when you can touch and see it closely. Learn about the brief history and parts of a Kakejiku (hanging scroll) with us! The class will run for two hours, talking about the history, parts, differences from Western art, some fun facts about Kakejiku, learning how to unwind and tie it up, getting a deeper understanding and appreciation of the art. There will be a complementary tea time, letting you have some free time to talk and ask questions about the class. At the end of the class, there will also be some good quality kakejikus available for purchase, perfect as a souvenir or a gift to yourself! Also, we'll have some museum recommendations if you'll be interested in seeing more kakejikus during your trip packed with the knowledge from the class! The workshop is available in English.
